Round and round it goes. The Cambrian Park Plaza’s whimsical carousel sign has been spinning for over 60 years. Hopefully, it will never stop. Public outcry ensued following the announcement that the Cambrian Park Plaza Shopping Center would be razed and the property redeveloped. But what would happen to the wonderful sign? When the sign was first erected, the shopping center name featured a bouncy mid-century script, outlined in neon. At some point, the neon was replaced with backlit plastic panels—a change requiring less maintenance.The sign, nonetheless, was deemed historic and will, thankfully, remain on the property.
