Open Position: Part-Time Office Assistant (10-20 hours/week)

Job Summary: We are seeking a Part-Time Assistant to support the daily operations of our non-profit historic preservation organization based in downtown San Jose. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Executive Director and assist with administrative tasks, event planning, social media management, and other duties as assigned. $20-$25/hour DOE.



  • Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, answering phone calls, and responding to emails.

  • Support event planning by helping to organize logistics, send invitations, manage RSVPs, and assist with setup and breakdown.

  • Manage and update social media accounts, including creating content, scheduling posts, and monitoring engagement.

  • Conduct research as needed for various projects and initiatives.

  • Assist with membership management, including processing applications, renewals, and communications with members.

  • Provide support for fundraising efforts, including assisting with grant applications, donor communications, and tracking donations.

  • Pack and ship online orders.

  • Collaborate with Executive Director, board members and volunteers to achieve organizational goals.



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in history, architecture, city planning, or a related field preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace, social media platforms, website management (Wix or equivalent), and digital photography.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Demonstrated interest in historic preservation.

  • Availability to work 10-20 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends.
