SJSU Modernism Campus Tour

Join tour guide Heather David, author of Mid-Century by the Bay and Motel California, for this special tour highlighting San Jose State University's under-appreciated modernist architectural legacy. We'll see how international design trends-- from the Bauhaus to Brutalism-- helped shape San Jose State College's growth in the decades following World War II and created the San Jose State University campus we know today. A newly-adopted Campus Master Plan proposes the future replacement or remodeling of many of these once-groundbreaking buildings, so now is the time to take a closer look at what should be celebrated and what could be lost.
